Aleskei's Revolution

By wade ogletree on Jan 15, 2010 | In Writing | 1 feedback »

One of my personal favorites is being reprinted in (or at) Once Again with Feeling, a new reprint ezine from Susie Hawes.

http://onceagainwithfeeling.com/

Due to its length, it will be presented in two parts with the first part coming out this weekend and the conclusion to be published this summer.

The story is "Aleskei's Revolution", the story of a time machine and a lusty Russian businessman who, in his aging years, tries to relive an illicit affair.

You may remember it from its original run in "The Sword Review".

I want to thank Susie Hawes for contacting me and requesting a story. I believe that was a first for me.

Animated Films part III

The Incredibles
Finding Nemo
Beauty and the Beast
Kung Fu Panda
The Iron Giant
Les Triplets de Belleville
Wallace & Gromit
Spirited Away

Brad Bird, the man behind The Incredibles and The Iron Giant, is working on a live action picture based on the great San Francisco earthquake. (He also helmed Ratatouille, but that project was underway before he got involved--so we can forgive him.)

Most of the pics listed above are not controversial, especially since I didn't say "Were-Rabbit" when I mentioned Wallace & Gromit. Kung Fu Panda could raise some eyebrows, but I've discussed that elsewhere.

I have some others that I really enjoy and others that I respect. Flushed Away is on the enjoy list. Pinocchio is on the respect list. I solved the problem by cutting out those that didn't fit both.

I watched Finding Nemo again yesterday, after shelving it for many months. The basic structure of the story is surprisingly simple, but the complexity of the little stories that get Marlin from step to step is wonderful.

I've written elsewhere of the marvels of the structure in Beauty and the Beast.

  • Better Fiction

Better Fiction is the writing home of Wade Ogletree, the Better Fiction Anthologies, and the betterfiction.com fiction critique forum. It is now also the home of the serialized novel "Angel Warriors" by Melinda Reynolds. The writers' group, the fiction blogs, and the site in general are open to everyone, but keep in mind that we are friendly to Christian Fiction and Christian writers. Even so, this is a writers' group, not a writing monastery. Christian fiction critique shares space here with secular fiction critique, but we do try to keep things clean.
